5-Star Prospect Makur Maker commits to Howard

In a very surprising decision, Makur Maker has decided to head to Howard. Big Props to Makur Maker for maybe starting a trend for big name guys to go to HBCU’s, did I think he would go to Howard? Absolutely not, but I’m certainly glad he did.

Howard is coming off a pretty rough season, where they went 4-29 but in all fairness they lost RJ Cole and they had 17 wins the season before, so its tough to replace a guy like Cole. The Bison lose last seasons leading scorers in Charles Williams, also. Now let’s look at their lineup:

PG- Wayne Bristol Jr

SG- Kyle Foster

SF- Zion Cousins

PF- Steve Settle

C- Makur Maker

Bench: Khalil Robinson, LiWayne Richardson, Rahim Ali Jr, Jordan Wood, Amir Rahimzad

This is a very good team, Wayne Bristol Jr shot 40% from deep last season. Kyle Foster had 9 points per game, Cousins had 7 and 6, and Maker is a 5-Star recruit.

Hopefully this starts a trend and that’s what Maker cited on his twitter and named guys like Mikey Williams who’s an elite 2023 player, if guys start heading to HBCU’s it would be fun to watch. We’ve seen other guys like Josh Christopher take a Howard visit. Maker not only visited but he committed.
