JALEN SUGGS nails unforgettable shot. Gonzaga & UCLA final four recap.

INDIANAPOLIS, INDIANA - APRIL 03: Jalen Suggs #1 of the Gonzaga Bulldogs celebrates after making the game-winning, last-second, three-point shot in overtime against the UCLA Bruins in the Final Four semifinal game of the 2021 NCAA Men's Basketball Tournament at Lucas Oil Stadium on April 03, 2021 in Indianapolis, Indiana. There’s no question we all witnessed a game that’ll sit in College Hoops lore for history. UCLA gave a tremendous effort, sending it into OT–following a Johnny Juzang layup, tying us at 90 all, a mere 3.3 seconds remained on the clock–and then this happened.

As I’m sure everyone learned by now, Jalen Suggs hit a historic shot. When we see the March Madness intro every season, we’ll see this shot in that moment–a real ‘One Shining Moment’ as some would say. Suggs nailing that 30 foot game winner, rivals Kris Jenkins championship winner against UNC & Christian Laettner’s absurd game-winner in the 90’s facing Kentucky. It’s funny the way everything comes full circle. Hear me out–Grant Hill inbounded the ball to Laettner in the Kentucky game-winner for Duke & for this incredible game-winner, Hill was a part of the CBS Broadcast booth. A fun little detail.

Did UCLA have an otherworldly performance, or is Gonzaga in danger in the title game?

We’re in for an amazing title game without a doubt, let’s get that off to begin. Secondly, we’ve all known it would take an A++ performance for Gonzaga to fall this season–UCLA provided that performance, scoring 90 points, shooting an astounding 57% overall & 47% from deep in the game. It wasn’t that Gonzaga lacked defense in this one either, UCLA made incredibly difficult shots, mid-range jumpers from Juzang & Cody Riley even nailed four mid-range jumpers. Everything fell for the Bruins today, while Gonzaga only went 7-21 from deep, as Corey Kispert continued to struggle from deep.

Mick Cronin didn’t make it easy for Gonzaga–they just simply missed some shots they hit all season long.

With that being said, what a run for Mick Cronin’s Bruins, now a legend in Westwood for a sudden run in March. Johnny Juzang proved to be the best player throughout the tournament, dropping 29 points–while shooting 12-18 on the day.

It’s called “March Madness” for a reason, anything can happen.

A full preview by myself will be out for the title game in the coming day, also expect a youtube video & listen to the MakingTheMadness podcast.

A brief prolouge to that here–Gonzaga’s one game away from marking their territory & becoming the first team since 1976 to notch an unbeaten National Title. Gonzaga got tested by UCLA, but potentially that could help them notice small things to tighten up before Monday. We all wanted this Gonzaga V. Baylor duel back in December, prior to COVID ending our hopes & dreams–now we get that matchup on Championship Monday.

Two teams trying to win their FIRST EVER national title.
