College Basketball Conference Futures

Before we dive into the plays, I would like to mention that I’m honored and pleasured to be writing my first article on Making The Madness. With the college basketball season starting today, I wanted to give you readers something to churn on for the whole season. This will be a long and fun season and personally I am excited for it. Listed below are some of the conference futures I am betting on and will be rooting for the whole season.

Kansas to win Big 12 (+190)

If you want close to a sure thing for conference futures this is one. Kansas runs the Big 12 and it has been like that for a long time. Their team this year is built to have a big season and built to win a National Championship. With the addition of Remy Martin and key returning pieces like Ochai Agbaji and David McCormack, this team will have a successful season. Not to mention they have amazing home court advantage and with that you can count on this team to win the Big 12.

Villanova to win Big East (-105)

I will keep this one short and sweet, the Big East is Villanova’s to lose and there aren’t any real contenders for the title.

UCLA to win Pac-12 (+150)

After a very impressive tournament run last season UCLA comes back this year with a superb team and looking to perform at their tournament level throughout the regular-season. With two potential All-Americans in Juzang and Jaquez and adding in a good front court piece in Myles Johnson, UCLA should skate through regular season play to a Pac-12 Regualar Season Championship.

Alabama to win SEC (+500)

Nate Oats can take this team far in the NCAA Tournament but also winning an SEC title should remain a priority. Returning Quinerly and Shackelford with an icoming five star recruit in JD Davidson, this team is poised to be really good. This is a really good team with lots of potential and their only real competition for the league title being Kentucky. Alabama has nothing to prove to me, but is a team that should be looked at as a favorite to win the SEC.

North Carolina to win ACC (+450)

This one is a dark horse. This is the start of the post Roy Williams era. With returning a lot of key players and adding key pieces in Brady Manek and Dawson Garcia, this team should not be taken for granted come conference play. They will be tested early on in non conference games against top teams in the sport and that will leave them battle tested come league play. A lot of people will be looking for Duke to win the ACC but you should not take this team for granted as some players will surely breakout and perform better than last year. If Love and Davis step up and Bacot keeps improving then this will be a dangerous team to face.
