Colorado Star guard, McKinley Wright returns for his final season.
Big news, which was expected for the most part but still huge as McKinley Wright IV has opted to return for his senior season. While Tyler Bey leaves early, Wright returns that’s news Tad Boyle is fine with definitely. Wright averaged 14.4 points, 5.7 rebounds, and 5.0 assists per game. He’s a great facilitator and a great scorer, although he wasn’t as efficient as he normally was before this season. He’s been a steady for all three of his seasons but hasn’t improved much from his Freshman season, can he take a big jump and score close to 20 points per game. I think so he’s super talented, he has a great feel for the game, he’s great in a pick and roll, although without Tyler Bey that will look different.
Here’s their Lineup going into next season:
PG: McKinley Wright IV
SG: Dominique Clifford
SF: D’Shawn Schwartz
PF: Jeriah Horne (Tulsa)
C: Evan Battey
Bench: Eli Parquet, Alexander Strating, Maddox Daniels, Jabari Walker, Luke O’Brien, Tristan Da Silva
Dominque Clifford will be a big piece for the future and I think should start this season. He’s 6’5” and 170 pounds, so hopefully bulks up a bit throughout his career but I think he’s better than Maddox Daniels.
D’Shawn Schwartz is a great shooter. He’s a 6’7 wing who has such a beautiful jump shot, he shot 36% from deep this season and made the game-winner to hand Dayton one of their two losses. I think he’s a future NBA prospect and will have a very good Senior Season and he will look fo make a big jump in the PAC-12 this season.
Jeriah Horne is onto his third stop. He started at Nebraska, went to Tulsa and is now at Colorado. Horne is a good stretch-4, he’s not a great rebounder but gets the job done decent enough, I’d like to see him in this role for a high-major program what he can do. I think Horne’s a very good player and I feel like he can have 12 point, 8 Rebound per game average this year and he’ll be a great transfer addition.
Evan Battey is a big dude with a great story. He had a stroke during his Freshman season at Colorado, and there were questions whether he would be able to get back and play. Now he does so at a big level. He’s a force down-low due to being a big body but he’s not overly athletic, so he gets hurt defensively due to that. I can see him averaging a double-double this season.
Colorado is a team I could see snagging a tournament bid this season. It hurts losing Tyler Bey but they need Jeriah Horne to step into that role and be a factor for this Buffaloes team.
