ETSU Transfer, Bo Hodges names Final 5.

When Steve Forbes was hired at Wake Forest, Bo Hodges entered the Portal. He had 12 PPG, 5 RPG, and 2 APG this season. He’s a bigger guard more of a 2-guard who is only a 25% shooter from three, but he is good inside the arc, shooting 50% from the floor. He’s from Nashville he’ll be a Senior, but he is labeled as a sit one-play one. We’ll see where he ends up I’m here as usual to examine his options

Butler: The Bulldogs under LaVall Jordan were primed for a deep run in the NCAA Tournament this past season. For Butler, Kamar Baldwin and Sean McDermott both graduated. Aaron Thompson will look to take a step up offensively as the starting point guard. Thompson offers limited ability offensively but he’s a good playmaker and defender. They also add Jair Bolden, a Graduate Transfer from South Carolina, he’s a very good offensive guy, but Hodges opportunity will be there.

Minnesota: Marcus Carr returns and he’s a good overall guard, Gabe Kalscheur is a good shooter but wildly inconsistent at times, but they notably lose their top scorer in Daniel Oturu. I don’t love Hodges’ fit here to be honest. Minnesota also adds Brandon Johnson Jr from Western Michigan, Liam Robbins from Drake who’s applying for a waiver, Jamal Mashburn Jr at guard, and Matrice Mitchell at forward. To me, the fit doesn’t make sense, especially if he is unable to secure a waiver.

Arkansas: Arkansas is losing Mason Jones to the NBA, while Isaiah Joe is testing waters but he should be back though. The Razorbacks have added Jalen Tate, a guard from Northern Kentucky, Vance Jackson a forward from New Mexico. They return Desi Sills at guard. Arkansas also adds a Top-10 recruiting class with Moses Moody, Jaylin Williams, KK Robinson, and Davonte Davis. Assuming Joe is back, I’m just not sure there will be enough touches to go around.

Tennessee State: I’m not going to spend much time with this one. He should not go to Tennessee State.

East Tennessee State: Will he return? Maybe. Is a legacy like the one he could have at ETSU, worth leaving? ETSU will be the So-Con Favorites with him in the lineup. Hodges and Patrick Good at guard is a great guard combo. They return former assistant coach in Jason Shay. The biggest factor here, is that I don’t think they’d have a chance if Jason Shay wasn’t hired.

Prediction: East Tennessee State gets their star guard and leader back for another season. Minnesota is a close 2nd but the uncertainty on if he gets a waiver isn’t worth leaving. Plus ETSU is the best team on his list.
