Hampton Star Big-man, Benjamin Stanley enters transfer portal.
Huge news in the July Portal as star player in the Big South, Ben Stanley has entered the portal. He averaged 22 points and 7.2 rebounds per game last season. He’s a 6’6” Forward who plays much bigger and will have to sit out due to Transfer Rules, unless he gets a waiver. So Let’s look into his options.
Maryland: Stanley is from Baltimore which is about 40 Minutes away from College Park. They need players down-low especially good players which is what Stanley is. They lose Jalen Smith to the NBA, and Joshua Tomaic to SDSU. They added Galin Smith from Alabama, but he’s kind of whatever, and 7’2 Chol Marial who’s a project currently. I think Stanley would get a waiver to play this season for the Terps should he could go there.
Oregon: They have an open spot after losing C.J. Walker, he would have to sit should he go to Eugene. He would have a big role, they likely will lose N’Faly Dante and they will lose Seniors Eugene Omoruyi and Eric Williams Jr. Stanley would be an absolute star for the Ducks.
Georgetown: Another spot where a waiver could be received. Georgetown isn’t looking good good but Stanley will make them somewhat decent. It doesn’t appear anyone wants to play for Patrick Ewing, so Stanley may have a big season.
VCU: The Rams could benefit Stanley defensively and they have a spot after they lose Marcus Santos-Silva. He could get a waiver but we’ll have to see if he does. Him along with Bones Hyland could make the Commodores a NCAA Tournament team.
Rhode Island: Another Mid-Major school where Stanley can play a huge role, he would sit out there but he would star for the Rams following the loss of Fatts Russell. It would be hard to imagine that they reach out and see what’s happening with Stanley. He would play alongside the Mitchell twins.
Prediction: Maryland, he would probably receive a waiver and play in the best conference, tough to pass up.
