Interview with Toledo Guard, Marreon Jackson
Q: How many offers did you hold out of High School and what were some notable teams involved?
A: “I had like 25, I had mostly Mid-Majors, Davidson, Michigan, Xavier, Wisconsin those were the big ones.”
Q: Why did you choose Toledo
A: “A lot of guys mess up out of HS and pick the big name and end up not playing, so I wanted to come in and play right away.”
Q: You took a big jump this season statistically how did you take a big jump this season?
A: “I knew coming into the season I was going to have to take a bigger offensive role losing guys like Jalen Sanford, Nate Navigato, and the year before we lost Tre’Shaun Fletcher who was the MAC Player of the year during his Senior Season. “
Q: Who was your biggest player mentor?
A: “Tre’Shaun Fletcher, we still keep in touch to this day.”
Q: You tested the NBA Waters this season, what did you get told?
A: “They said I had to work on my turnovers, they said they were fatigue turnovers, and be more explosive to the Basket.”
Q: Another common thing in College Hoops is that guys who are great Mid-Major players trying to Grad Transfer for their Senior Season, did you consider transferring?
A: “It was an option but It was only like a 30% chance I would’ve transferred to a bigger school, just because I wasn’t sure what I would be getting into. Here at Toledo, I run the offense and I didn’t want to fix something that’s not broken.”
Q: What can you guys accomplish as a team this season?
A: “We have a lot of great Freshmen and new-comers from JUCO and transfers coming in and I think we’ll make the tournament this season.”
Q: If people haven’t seen you play what do you want them to know about you?
A: “I’m a great leader, have a great IQ, and I’m a great Shooter.”
