Jalen Coleman-Lands commits to Iowa State

There it is, rumors were swirling that Coleman-Lands was headed to Ames for days now and it has now happened. The former Illinois/DePaul guard is off to Iowa State to play for Steve Prohm. The Cyclones lost a lot in Tyrese Haliburton, Prentiss Nixon, Michael Jacobsen, and Caleb Grill (UNLV). They return Rasir Bolton, George Conditt IV, Soloman Young, and Tre Jackson. They will also add Javan Johnson (Troy transfer), along with Coleman-Lands, as well as sit-out transfer Tyler Harris from Memphis. They also add recruits Xavier Foster, Dudley Blackwell, Darlinson Dubar, and Jaden Walker all Top-200 recruits (Per 247Sports). Now let’s look into next seasons team for coach Steve Prohm

PG- Rasir Bolton

SG- Jalen Coleman-Lands

SF- Javan Johnson

PF- Soloman Young

C- George Conditt IV

Bench: Tre Jackson, Xavier Foster, Dudley Blackwell, Darlinson Dubar, Jaden Walker.

This is an improved team from the 12-20 one from a season ago, Their starting-5 is decent but the bench is a big concern, they need more veteran leadership on the bench. Iowa State has 2 scholarships left, so maybe they add some veteran guards from the Portal to play off the bench.

This isn’t an NCAA Tournament team but they could maybe be an NIT Team that could win some surprise games in Ames, as road Big 12 games are never easy, but with a team this solid in Ames could be problems for the visiting opponents, this is a definitely a team that can steal some wins.
