As expected the very skilled big-man will be immediately eligible for John Calipari’s squad this upcoming season. He will have 2 seasons of eligibility being this season and next. Losing guys the likes of Nick Richards, Nate Sestina, E.J. Montgomery left a big hole for a veteran big man down-low, there’s not many better than Sarr. Late in the season the France born 7 footer showed his ability to score big having 30, 25, 20 in 3 of the last 6 games. He’s not much of a shooter but I could totally see him developing that, he’s a solid free throw shooter at 76% last season, he’s definitely an NBA-level talent in my eyes, very athletic for a 7 footer, but isn’t a very good defender which for someone his size and facing guys the likes of Romello White, Connor Vanover, John Fulkerson, Jordan Bruner he’ll need to develop as a defender.
Coach K deals with losing guys who won’t be drafted more than anybody, I mean it’s honestly kind of crazy.
Immanuel Quickley- SEC POTY, likely 2nd roudner
Ashton Hagans- Un-Drafted
Nick Richards- Late-2nd to Un-Drafted
E.J. Montgomery- Un-Drafted
Kahlil Whitney- left program during season, Un-drafted.
I understand Richards and Quickley leaving they won’t have better seasons than they had this season therefore their stock won’t be higher I completely get it.
Like Ashton Hagans and EJ Montgomery, why? Hagans isn’t a scorer, at all. He’s a good passer and true point-guard, but can’t shoot and is super hit-or-miss on defense he gets a lot of steals, but when he misses it can lead to a wide open lane for the guard he’s on. I have no idea why Hagans is leaving, I hope it works out but I just don’t know
Montgomery leaving might make the least sense out of anyone leaving early, you were a 5-Star guy, McDonald’s All-American and has 6.1 PPG, 5.4 RPG, so you leave for the draft to play in the G-League? Patience is the key. Look at P.J Washington, went from a late first to 2nd rounder, comes back and is a lottery pick. I don’t know if someone told Montgomery he’d be drafted but if they did, they lied. Montgomery wouldn’t be drafted if there was 120 picks, he’s a solid player but him leaving and being like a top-150 player in the class makes no sense. Anyways let’s look at the lineup
PG: Davion Mintz (Creighton)
SG: Brandon ‘B.J.’ Boston)
SF: Terrance Clarke
PF: Keion Brooks Jr
C: Olivier Sarr (Wake Forest)
Bench: Devin Askew, Isaiah Jackson, Lance Ware, Cam’Ron Fletcher.
