Stony Brook Guard, Makale Foreman is a 6’1 guard from Kingsport, TN. Forenan entered the Portal and has cut his list of schools to California, Iowa State, and Santa Clara. Foreman had 15 PPG, while shooting 36% from three, he’s a very good overall shooter/ scorer. He’s a score-first guard who at the power-5 level, could be used a bench spark plug wherever he goes. Foreman started at UT-Chattanooga and spent 2 seasons there before going to play for the Seawolves for one season. He now is a graduate transfer that will step in and play right away. Now I’ll examine his options.
Santa Clara: Coach Herb Sendek is losing Tahj Eaddy (USC) transfer, Trey Wertz (Notre Dame) transfer, but I’m not sure going to Santa Clara is much of an upgrade for Foreman, If he stayed at Stony Brook they’ll probably be better off than going Santa Clara, The Broncos will be a bottom of the WCC team this season, they just aren’t very good at this point, after a solid season in 2019-20, they lost Eaddy and Wertz. This would be his only for sure starting opportunity but they are the worst team on the list.
California: They’ve already added Penn grad transfer Ryan Betley at guard, he’s a solid player and will start at point guard, Foreman would likely put in 20-25 minutes as Golden Bear under Mark Fox. California is on the rise and Foreman would be a nice piece on that team that has little to no depth.
Iowa State: The Cyclones return Rasir Bolton at the guard spot, Tre Jackson will start alongside him. They also add 3 three-star recruits to play at the guard spot, while landing Tyler Harris. Foreman will play a decent amount for Iowa State, he could craft out a sixth-man role. I expect Iowa State to add more depth, even if they can add Foreman.
Prediction: Iowa State, none of these teams will be tournament teams. Iowa State doesn’t have that guy that is known for his shooting, this opens up opportunities for him to be a star at the high-major level.
