Wake Forest Transfer, Chaundee Brown has committed to Michigan. His Final Four schools included Illinois, Iowa State, Gonzaga, and LSU. None of those teams are named Michigan which means he went off the grid and picked a school, not in his final four. Chaundee is the #1 transfer on the list I recently did and explained in-depth on him there, but I’ll dive in a bit here but check that one out too.
Brown is a big strong 2-guard at 6’5″ 220 pounds, he uses his strength to get to the rim, he’s a serviceable shooter at 32% from three, it’s not what you want but you’ll take it. Michigan will need that be at least 35+ for him to fully flourish. Brown is 45% overall from the field which is good so as long as he can get to the hoop and do what he does he’ll continue being a great piece. Although a waiver is needed for this season, I find it hard to believe he doesn’t get one due to Danny Manning getting fired.
Projected Michigan Lineup
PG- Eli Brooks
SG- Chaundee Brown (Needs Waiver)
SF- Franz Wagner
PF- Isaiah Livers (Testing Waters)
C- Hunter Dickinson
Bench: Mike Smith (Colombia Graduate Transfer,) Austin Davis, Terrance Williams, Zeb Jackson, Jace Howard.
This will be an interesting team to me do I have them winning the B1G? No, probably not even a Top-3 team but they could be around a 5-8 seed in the tournament if Wagner, Brown, and Brooks step up. For me Franz Wagner is the biggest X-Factor, if he can be more consistent he will be great, he broke his wrist in pre-season practices and it took him some time to mold into form. Michigan adds Brown to the Transfer Portal additions of Mike Smith and Nojel Eastern, although Eastern needs to sit-out. Michigan lost 3 guys to the portal in David DeJulius (Cincinnati), Colin Castleton, (Florida) Cole Bajema (Washington). I had projected them to get Jalen Coleman-Lands in my article on him but I highly doubt that’s a possibility now, but Chaundee Brown is a better player than Coleman-Lands, so overall a great get for the Wolverines, especially if he gets a waiver.
