Significant transfer news surfaced today as Joseph Yesufu — a Drake transfer, decided to commit to Kansas.
Once Roman Penn suffered an injury, Yesufu stepped into the fold & thrived, dropping 20+ in six of eight games, sans Penn & dropped 36 in one of those games. The talent is so clearly there, whether it’s pulling up for a jumper or using his quick burst to score at the basket.
We saw how badly Kansas needed a PG that could create for themselves, with Marcus Garrett not being a true point & DaJuan Harris not looking to score — that changed the outlook for Bill Self last season, going from Devon Dotson to a big question mark didn’t help things. Now you add a guy eerily similar to Devon Dotson to conduct offense next season. A major add that’ll slip under the radar, but Yesufu is a big haul to add this off-season, given his scoring potential.
Taking a look at Kansas next season — here’s where we stand:
Lineup:
PG: Joe Yesufu (Drake)
SG: Bryce Thompson
SF: Ochai Agbaji
PF: Jalen Wilson
C: David McCormack
Bench: Cam Martin (Missouri Southern), DaJuan Harris, Sydney Curry (John A. Logan), Christian Braun, Bobby Pettiford, K.J. Adams, Zach Clemency, Mitch Lightfoot
The outlook for Kansas is bright next season, given the adds & returnees — Kansas could be a 1-seed caliber team if all goes to plan next season.
