Best Games to Watch 1/30

San Diego State @ Colorado State (CBSSN)

The Mountain West always delivers and this game looks quite promising to be one that goes down to the wire. San Diego State is 16-4 and despite not being ranked, the Aztecs have played like a Top-25 team all season, largely because of Jaedon LeDee, who is having an All-American-type season. Colorado State is coming off a rough week where they lost at Nevada and at Wyoming, but they return home where they’ve lost just once this year. Look for a thriller that goes down to the wire, as Mountain West Player of the Year favorites Jaedon LeDee and Isaiah Stevens will go head to head trying to collect a quality win.

#9 Marquette @ Villanova (FS1)

This Big East game is a game between two teams on opposing sides of 4 game streaks since the two met in Milwaukee on MLK Day. Marquette is coming off a 4-game win streak, the Golden Eagles have clicked offensively, averaging over 80 points a game in that win streak. Villanova has gone on a four-game losing streak and despite having some impressive wins already, are heading towards missing the Tournament unless they turn things around. Marquette has been rolling on offense and that should continue but also look for Villanova to come out with a sense of desperation, expect this game to be close throughout, with the team making late-game plays and finding a way to win this one.

Mississippi State @ Ole Miss (SECN)

The Egg Bowl is one of the best rivalries in College Football, in College Basketball its been not as significant but with both being NCAA Tournament good this year, the stakes are raised this year. Mississippi State has picked up some quality wins over Tennessee and Auburn in league play but has not won a true road game yet this season. Ole Miss has had a very successful 17-3 start to the season, where they have been dominant at home. With a rivalry game, both teams will be giving it everything they’ve got to pick up a key win and own bragging rights for the State of Mississippi.

#15 Texas Tech @ TCU (ESPN2)

The Big 12 has been incredibly competitive this year and this game between two of the better teams in the league looks to provide a great game. Texas Tech is in first place in the Big 12, which has been helped by the Red Raiders getting a couple of key road wins at Texas and at Oklahoma early in league play. TCU is coming off a triple overtime win at Baylor but is looking to come back 72 hours later against a quality Texas Tech team and grab another quality win. Every game in this league is highly competitive and goes down to the wire, the question is which team can survive and advance with a high-level Big 12 win.

#14 Illinois @ Ohio State (Peacock)

14th-ranked Illinois heads on the road to take on an Ohio State team that badly needs a win in order to get back in the NCAA Tournament mix. Illinois has shown why they’re one of the top teams in the Big Ten this year but have dealt with fluctuating lineups with Terrence Shannon being in and out of the lineup. Ohio State has lost 5 of 6 and is not only staring down missing the NCAA Tournament but a coaching change as well. Playing on the road is always difficult even for experienced teams like Illinois as they take on a desperate Ohio State team.

Honorable Mentions

  • South Carolina @ Tennessee (SECN)
  • Oklahoma @ Kansas State (ESPN+)
