Blue Jays get a road win over Marquette in Milwaukee

Milwaukee, WI – Tuesday nights matchup between two Big East heavyweights #15 Creighton and #19 Marquette ended up going in the Blue Jays favor, as they won 73-65. Ty-Shon Alexander led the away team in scoring with 22, all while playing superb defense on the nation’s second-leading scorer Markus Howard, holding him to 13 points on 4 of 14 shooting. Markus Zegarowski also added in 17 in a winning effort.

After the game, Coach Greg McDermott talked about what has sparked his team’s hot streak, where they have won 8 of their last 9 games. “We’re connected, I mean these guys believe in each other, our execution, fundamentals have to be pretty good and they’ve bought into that.”

Marquette now falls to 7-6 in Big East play, while Creighton is now 10-4. The Blue Jays stay ahead of Villanova in the second place spot and are now just a 1/2 game behind Seton Hall for the Big East lead. The Blue Jays will travel back to Omaha to host Butler this upcoming Sunday, while the Golden Eagles will fly to East Coast to face Providence this Saturday.
